Beautiful recycled sari silk yarn is back in stock! This is one of my more popular yarns here at Spinster. Recycled sari silk yarn is made out of the silk leftover from weaving Indian sari's. It is a unique and colorful fair trade yarn handspun in India by women's co-ops. It makes wonderful scarves, wraps and bags.
I have original which is 100% silk ($15 skein), handpicked dark ($10 skein) which is more rich in color and millefiori ($12), which has a more eyelash look to it.

After such a successful spinning workshop by
Insubordiknit, I have gotten calls about people being disappointed that they missed it. Well, have no fear...I have one solution! Exclusively at Spinster Yarns & Fibers is:

I have 10 copies of Jacey's Sit and Spin DVD! This wildly popular DVD just got reviewed in the summer issue of Spin-Off (which is also in to the shop). It has also been featured on the Cast On podcast, as well as in Knitty's Cool Stuff review. Seriously? You have to get this DVD. The way it is shot makes you feel like you are Right There with her, watching over her shoulder. And Jacey is a great instructor. She makes this rockin' fun.
The DVD is here at the register and is available for $40. It will be the best $40 you have spent. I promise.
is
Insubordiknit's Art Yarn Spinning Workshop. Lots of pretty batts were made so I figured I would put up a nice collage of batt eye candy that have been made recently!
Well. I just heard that
Great Soul is closing. This makes me very sad. 2009 has seen the closing of Alabama BBQ, Bediboo and Rock Candy here in Lauraville. Now Great Soul. I guess it comes without saying that small businesses rely so heavily on local support. I wouldn't be here without the positive word of mouth that so many of you do and the repeat visits that keep me going. This post is to say thank you. And to encourage all of you to continue shopping and patronizing locally so that the growth of Lauraville and Hamilton continues. There has been so much positive change in the neighborhood. Let's keep it going.

I restocked my fiber braids! Yay! I had a sad looking fiber braid tree just yesterday after selling almost all of it. I think I had three braids left. But now, thanks to
Dragonfly Fibers, I am all stocked up again! There are a bunch of braids that are a merino/silk blend and they are scrumptous. So come get your fiber fix of some locally dyed fiber from the DC area. You have plenty to choose from!
